Pyramid Solitaire is the number 4 most played solitaire game, right after Klondike, Freecell and Spider. Instead of the usual rows and columns, you get a pyramid shaped stack of cards. The goal is simple: match cards that add up to 13 and clear them from the pyramid. Since all the cards are face-up, you can think through each move and plan your way to victory. You can play Pyramid Solitaire for free on FreeSolitaire.com, enjoy it in full screen and use simple controls to get the hang of it fast.

Getting to Know Pyramid Solitaire

Pyramid Solitaire’s unique structure is as eye-catching as it is engaging. You start with 28 cards arranged in that pyramid shape, plus a stockpile, a waste pile and a foundation. Each component plays a key role in your strategy (see Figure 1):

How to Play Pyramid Solitaire

The main objective is to clear the entire pyramid by matching cards that add up to 13. For example, a Queen (12) pairs with an Ace (1), a Jack (11) pairs with a 2 and so on. Kings are worth 13 and can be removed immediately without a pair. Always start by looking for pairs you can match in the pyramid. If no matches are available, draw a card from the stockpile and see if it can be combined with a card from the pyramid or waste pile. Keep making pairs until the pyramid is gone or no more moves remain. To make things clearer, I’ve included an example in Figure 2, where a black 10 and a red 3 are paired to make 13. That’s exactly the kind of match you’ll be looking for as you play.
