When the game starts, 2 decks of cards are dealt into 10 columns, the first 4 columns have 6 cards each and the last 6 columns have 5 cards. Only the top card of each column is face up, the rest are hidden. Leftover cards go into the stockpile. Here is a breakdown of the items:

How Do You Play Spider Solitaire?

Spider Solitaire has 3 difficulty levels. The game on this page starts standard with the beginner-friendly 1-suit level by default. If you want more of a challenge, you can switch levels using the menu in the top right corner or the 3 level buttons. Once you choose a level, the game remembers your choice for next time (thanks to cookies).

Once you’ve picked your level, the fun begins and you are ready to play! The goal in Spider Solitaire is to clear the tableau by organizing all the cards into full sequences (King to Ace) of the same suit and moving them to the foundations. The 1-suit level is straightforward, dealing with just 1 suit. In the 2-suit and 4-suit levels, the objective remains to clear the tableau, but managing multiple suits adds complexity and demands more strategic thinking. Arrange cards in descending order on the tableau, like placing a Queen on a King as shown in Figure 2. You can also move sequences if they have the same suit.

If you run out of moves, you can deal new cards from the stockpile but there is one important rule: you can’t deal cards if there are 1 or more empty columns on the tableau so make sure all columns have at least 1 card before hitting the stockpile!
